Five Boys Missing
TINGIRA CUTTER TRAGEDY
The five Tingira boys who were lost yesterday afternoon, when a service cutter from the ship was swamped on the bombora off Dobroyde Point, are still missing, and although search parties spent the night and all the morning looking for them, they could find no trace of the bodies.
The names of the boys are:— E. Page, R. Fellows, J. M'Pherson, H. Bamford, and L. Earl.
The cutter contained altogether 29 cadets, and was in charge of Petty Officer Duhig. They left the training ship shortly after 1 o'clock and made towards Manly. When off Dobroyde Point the cutter passed on the inside of the beacon. There she was hit by a heavy broaching sea. The mast snapped off, and the boat was swamped. The crew were all thrown into the water. Six of the lads and Duhig clung to the submerged boat but the others swam for the shore, and all, with the exception of the five who are missing, succeeded in reaching land. The waves were washing Into the rocky shore with tremendous violence,- and the spray was going 100ft. up the cliffs.

The Commodore in charge of H.M.A. Naval Establishments states that the actual casualties in the accident to the Tiingira's cutter, were:--
LESLIE WILLIAM HALL.
CHARLES WILLIAM FELLOWS.
JOHN EDEN M'PHERSON.
HERBERT EDGAR BAMFORD.
GEORGE WILLIAM PAGE.
No other lives were lost, or any boys injured. The bodies have not been recovered, although a search has been made extending nearly all day.
